DE talks in depth about his recruitment

Some people in Florida consider Corey Lemonier the top overall prospect in the
2010 recruiting cycle for the state of Florida, so TR caught up with Lemonier who
discussed his game, as well as his recruitment. What schools are this sunshine
state stud considering? Get inside to find out.
Lemonier is teammates with Defensive Tackle Calvin Smith , another top recruit
in 2010, at Hialeah High School and the two are considering many of the same
schools, and wouldn’t mind sharing the line at the next level.
“He’s (Smith) a really good player, he’s one of the key players on our team.”
Lemonier said. “I’m good friends with him. That would good (if we went to the
same school), but if it doesn’t work out it’s fine but we talk about it.”
Lemonier is also former teammates with current Illinois Defensive Linemen Corey
Liuget.
“I talk to him (Luiget),” Lemonier offered. “He talks to me about colleges
and what college life is like and he played with me at Hialeah and he’s a really
good player at Illinois. He talks to me about Illinois and that’s one of the
reasons I’m considering them.”
On the recruiting front, Lemonier claims 30 offers, and while he objects to
naming any favorites, he does offer some schools that are recruiting harder than
others. He also discussed unofficial visits he has, and has not taken, this
summer.
“I don’t have any top schools but the schools that are recruiting me the hardest
are Tennessee, Florida, Illinois, Florida State, and Auburn.” He said. “The team
that’s recruiting the hardest is probably Tennessee because they send me emails
just about every day.”
“I went to New Mexico, Auburn, and Florida State.” said Lemonier. “I’m
considering New Mexico because one of my coaches at Hialeah wanted me to check
them out and I really like it there. Every school I went to it was really
because I had never seen them before.”
“I was supposed to go to Tennessee but that didn’t work out so I didn’t know,”
he said. “We were trying to find a cheap plane ticket to go there but the plane
ticket was too much so we couldn’t make it.”
There are also some coaches that are recruiting him that stick out from others
in Lemonier’s mind.
“Coach Rocker from Auburn and Coach Gilmore from Illinois.” he offered. “I call
both of them like everyday and they’re my favorite coaches that are recruiting
me.”
As for a timetable as to when Lemonier is going to decide on a school, he admits
he doesn’t know and will just pull the trigger when he feels the right fit.
“It really doesn’t matter when I know I really like a school and I can see
myself playing for that school, then I’ll go ahead and commit, but I don’t have
a timetable.” Lemonier said.
Though Lemonier has offers from most of the top colleges in the country, he
tries not to let it get to his head and stays focus on his, and his teams game.
“We went 7-3 last year,” said the 6’4 ½, 231 pounder. “We have a lot of seniors
coming back so we’re shaping up well for this upcoming season.”
“My strengths I would say are my speed and physicality. I need to improve on my
pad level,” he said. “I don’t think I play like anybody else, but I really like
Everette Brown who played at Florida State.”
Lemonier plans on playing in the 2010 Under Amour All American, and says the
most important factors in his recruitment are early playing time as well as
academics.
He currently comes in at #41 in ThaRinger.com’s Top 300 for the Class of 2010
and the #2 player in the state of Florida.
