Lee takes in
Junior Days

By Miles Fomby
ThaRinger.com got a chance to catch up
with Durham, North Carolina quarterback,
Lavaedeay “Vad” Lee, after recent junior
day visits to North Carolina, North
Carolina State, and Duke. He briefly
spoke on how each trip went.
“The Duke junior day went pretty well. I
have been there a couple of times before
and have gotten to some of their games.
I had already seen all the facilities
and everything they have to offer.
“I got to talk to the coaches a little
bit. They had a full contact practice
afterwards so that was pretty exciting
to see the big boys hit and scrimmage.
It was really exciting to see some
football this early.”
Vad has visited North Carolina four
times now, but this was the first trip
he was able to sit down with coach Butch
Davis.
“They really impressed me at their
junior day. I have not gotten the
opportunity to talk to Butch Davis
before this trip. This time he took me
back to his office and we talked a
little bit. He was just telling me where
[North] Carolina stands.
I also got to talk to coach [John] Shoop.
He just brought me to his office and
showed me the play book. He showed me
how things operate at the quarterback
position at [North] Carolina. I was
pretty excited about that. Coach [Ken]
Browning also showed me around.”
Right before the N.C. State junior day,
Vad and several other top North Carolina
prospects had a photo shoot for the U.S.
Army All-American Bowl. He went on to
comment about the N.C. State junior day.
“N.C. State’s junior day was pretty
good. This was my first time going over
there so I was pretty excited. They
showed me around the facilities and I
got a campus tour. They showed us around
the dorms, where the classes will be,
and how the lifestyle at N.C. State
would be if I come there.
“The coaches were pretty nice. They
showed me a great time and their
facilities were great. I got to go on
the field and in vision myself in a N.C.
State uniform. They have a pretty nice
stadium. I met the offensive coach and
the quarterbacks coach, Coach [Dana]
Bible.”
Georgia Tech also recently offered the
6’3”, 210 pound quarterback and he plans
to visit their camp in the summer. He
also plans to visit summer camps at
Duke, East Carolina, and North Carolina
State.
When asked when we could expect a
commitment from him he said, “I am not
really in a rush to sign anywhere right
now. It will probably be on singing day
or sometime around then.”
One of the main things Vad will look at
when deciding on a college is early
playing time.
“The facilities and how close the
atmosphere is, how the coaches and
players connect. I would like to get on
the field early and have a fair chance
to play at the quarterback position,
maybe even start."
Lee comes in as a 4 star player and the
#6 rated prospect in
North Carolina
on our initial state list.
