Chad Lindsay, a 6-3, 300-pound offensive guard from The Woodlands, Texas, committed to Alabama this morning over offers from Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, and Nebraska among others. The newest member of the Tide was named 5A Texas Football 1st Team All-State for his junior efforts.

 Why Alabama?

“It is just a place that felt good to me. It is a great campus, great atmosphere, great people, and great facilities.”

“All of the schools that recruited me were great. Not taking anything away from the other schools, it is just Alabama felt like the place for me.”

Lindsay talked briefly about the events this morning and how he committed to the Crimson Tide.

“I did it up here at my school. I called coach [Nick] Saban and said, ‘I am committed to you and the University of Alabama.’ ”

“He [Nick Saban] said, ‘That is great news man. I cannot wait to get you up here. It is going to be great. A great place for you to come up here for 4-5 years. I cannot wait to see you.'  Then I did the hat thing in front of all my teammates. ”

Lindsay had strong family ties to the LSU program but he says his parents were behind whatever decision he made.

“They are excited. They are happy I am going to Alabama. They are happy that I committed the way I did. They are pumped just like I am.”

Lindsay is planning on graduating early and enrolling in the University of Alabama next January. He pointed out his strengths as well as some things he is working to improve before arriving in Tuscaloosa.

“Just my size, strength and quickness would probably be my strengths. I am just going to keep on working at getting stronger, getting faster, getting quicker, and agility stuff.”

Lindsay said that he still plans to take his official visits.
